HOTEL REVIEW - The Emerald Explorers Inn - Emerald

The Emerald Explorers Inn is a four-star motel located on the Gregory Highway, on the Southern side of the Emerald township. The Hotel is located less than 5 minutes from both the Emerald Township and the Emerald Airport, and before the Mayfair Village Estate was built – including the Mayfair Hotel – reviewed HERE – the Explorers Inn was the closest motel to the Airport.

There are 45 rooms at the Explorers Inn – all on ground level – that are in a variety of configurations from Standard Rooms (that I stayed in), the way through to Executive and Family Rooms. Each room features two entrances, with undercover parking available for each room as well.

The rooms are well appointed with a sitting area and large screen television, reverse cycle air conditioner, free Austar – with sport/news/movies channels, minibar, tea & coffee making facilities, hairdryer, and iron/ironing board.
The room also featured a roomy bathroom, with exhaust fan and heater, and interestingly, the bathroom basin is in the main part of the room (bedroom).

Other features of the Explorers Inn include a lovely centrally located swimming pool area, barbeque facilities, and well-appointed conference facilities including a ‘boardroom’ where I myself have been to several work-related meetings.

The Explorers Inn also offers a pick-up and drop-off transfer service from and to Emerald Airport.

I have enjoyed every stay I’ve had at the Explorers Inn – and I have stayed several times previously – I have enjoyed the little bit of luxury that in my opinion, the room and motel offered. On this occasion, I also had meals at the Explorers Restaurant – and I was really impressed with the menu offerings and the standard of the food. The restaurant also offers buffet breakfast every morning as well.

The only downside with staying at the Explorers Inn was the cost – with Emerald now being a mining ‘hub’, rooms and meals are at a premium price – perhaps a little more expensive than other hotels in Emerald.
